Welcome to Birthwise!
Birthwise Midwifery School is a small private institution founded in 1994 in Bridgton, Maine. We are a comprehensive three year education program for Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs), accredited by the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council and licensed by the State of Maine Department of Education. Birthwise has been approved by SEVIS for enrollment of international students, and students are eligible to apply for Federal Student Aid through the U.S. Education Department (FAFSA). A Birthwise education prepares students for practice in free standing birth centers or home birth practices.

If you are interested in learning more about attending Birthwise Midwifery School, we encourage you to explore this website thoroughly, or contact Birthwise directly via e-mail, phone, or mail. We love prospective students to come visit the school and sit in on classes for a day to help them determine whether Birthwise is the right program for them.

Birthwise Visitation Day
You are invited to visit Birthwise on the second Tuesday of December, January, February and March to learn more about the school and its midwifery program. Your can sit in on a class and talk to faculty, staff and students who are currently enrolled in the program.

Independant Research Presentations
Birthwise Midwifery School invites the midwifery community to attend Independent Research Presentations, given by advanced midwifery students. These talks will be given on Monday, March 5th, from 9:00 am - 2:30pm, including a potluck lunch. Students will present the results of their research on a variety of topics relevant to today's midwives. Contact Birthwise for more details.
