Doula Training at Birthwise

Birthwise Midwifery School is currently accepting applications for the position of Associate Academic Director.  This 26 hr/ wk position involves classroom instruction, administrative tasks and clinical supervision of students in our on-site birth center.

Welcome to Birthwise!

Birthwise Midwifery School is a small private institution founded in 1994 in Bridgton, Maine.  We are a comprehensive three year education program for Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs), accredited by the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council and licensed by the State of Maine Department of Education. Birthwise has been approved by SEVIS for enrollment of international students, and students are eligible to apply for Federal Student Aid through the U.S. Education Department (FAFSA).  A Birthwise education prepares students for practice in free standing birth centers or home birth practices.

We are currently accepting applications for our fall 2012 Campus Program due to begin in September 2012, and the Community Program scheduled to begin in July 2012. Application deadline for the 2012 Campus and Community programs is April 1, 2012. For information on the admissions process click here.

Birthwise Visitation Day

You are invited to visit Birthwise on the second Tuesday of December, January, February and March to learn more about the school and its midwifery program. Independant Research Presentations

Birthwise Midwifery School invites the midwifery community to attend Independent Research Presentations, given by advanced midwifery students. These talks will be given on Monday, March 5th, from 9:00 am - 2:30pm, including a potluck lunch. Students will present the results of their research on a variety of topics relevant to today's midwives. Contact Birthwise for more details.
